Kindergarten Round-up

We had 11 students visit for kindergarten round-up.  We did some activities, listened to some stories, did some art work and played.  It was a great morning!

Sink or Float?

We did two days of experiments trying to discover what sinks and what floats.  First, the students had to guess what they thought would happen and then we did the experiments to find out if they were correct.  It was a lot of fun and possibly the favorite science project of the year!

Bunny Baskets

The kids colored and cut out a bunny and we made it into a little, basket.  Then when they weren't looking, the baskets were gone.  Later they found them hidden around the room with candy in them!  I wonder who would do such a thing?

We Love Chicks!

The second graders had three chicks in their room, so they invited us to check them out, since we are a bit bird crazy!  The kids loved them!  I enjoyed listen to the conversation that they had as they described the bird and noticed where the ears were and noticed molting.  Then they got a good close- up look at a bird's feet, beak, wings and feathers.  It was a great learning experience!

New Bird Bingo Game

We were presented with a brand new Bird Bingo game!  It has birds from other parts of the world, so the kids learned about 40 different birds, just by playing this game a few times.  Now they know 410 different birds!  WOW!

A 3-D Printed Bird

Elliot from PAST was here from Ohio along with Mari.  He brought them a 3-D printed bird.  Actually there were two birds because the first on ran out of material and wasn't completed.  It was okay though because then we could see what it was like inside.  I'm not sure that the kids understood how amazing a 3-D printed bird is, but I thought it was fascinating.

Then the kids challenged Elliot and Mari to a contest, to see who knew the most bird songs.  You can guess who won that challenge!  The kids are up to 100+ bird songs that they can recognize.
