The second graders had three chicks in their room, so they invited us to check them out, since we are a bit bird crazy! The kids loved them! I enjoyed listen to the conversation that they had as they described the bird and noticed where the ears were and noticed molting. Then they got a good close- up look at a bird's feet, beak, wings and feathers. It was a great learning experience!
This blog is for family and friends to see what their little one is experiencing on this wonderful adventure of kindergarten!

New Bird Bingo Game
A 3-D Printed Bird
Elliot from PAST was here from Ohio along with Mari. He brought them a 3-D printed bird. Actually there were two birds because the first on ran out of material and wasn't completed. It was okay though because then we could see what it was like inside. I'm not sure that the kids understood how amazing a 3-D printed bird is, but I thought it was fascinating.
Then the kids challenged Elliot and Mari to a contest, to see who knew the most bird songs. You can guess who won that challenge! The kids are up to 100+ bird songs that they can recognize.

Awesome Bird Cake!
This boy had a really awesome bird, birthday cake that was actually made with cupcakes! The kids loved it!
Leprechaun Visit
The leprechauns came to our classroom and made a huge mess! They left a
note saying that they were looking for treasure in our room, but they
couldn't find any gold. Instead they sent us on a treasure hunt to find
a different treasure. We followed the clues throughout the school. Teachers
said they saw something green that flew through like the March wind! At the
end of the hunt, the last clue said to look somewhere where we like to
play. We searched and finally someone found a treasure of gold-wrapped candy
and green good luck coins! It was a lot of fun! Those silly
leprechauns!
